Blue tick users on Twitter have to pay now

Blue tick users on Twitter

Twitter’s user verification procedure will soon be revised, according to Elon Musk, who now owns the social media site.

The authentication process on Twitter has always been a difficult and contentious process. In order to make the application process more efficient, the business has repeatedly stopped and started it. The social media business may be attempting to change the way verification works in the Elon Musk period by charging $20 per month in exchange for a verified badge.

Musk has acted swiftly to make adjustments at Twitter, starting with altering the homepage for users who are not logged in. He’s contemplating mass layoffs of middle management and engineers who haven’t recently added to the code base with the assistance of Tesla engineers he’s hired into Twitter as consultants. Managers have already started compiling names of staff members to lay off, and the cuts are anticipated to start this week.

A new, more expensive version of Twitter Blue, the platform’s paid subscription, that will cost $19.99 per month and grant users a verified badge, is what the firm plans to roll out. Twitter Blue is currently accessible in Canada, New Zealand, Australia, and other countries for $4.99 per month.

The New York Times reported in May that Musk gave Twitter investors a pitch deck including objectives ranging from boosting subscriber income to reaching 69 million Twitter Blue users by 2025. These initial adjustments to Twitter’s premium plan may be a step in the right direction.

Musk didn’t really reveal the specifics of the new programme, but he did mention that the verification process is being improved in response to a conversation between spaceflight photographer John Kraus and a16z partner Sriram Krishnan.

According to the source, Twitter is hurriedly introducing this new membership plan by November 7. What’s even more alarming is that Twitter Blue customers who don’t pay within 90 days will have their verification badges removed from their accounts. Since verified users can be found elsewhere, it will be difficult to enforce this restriction unless the membership programme is made available everywhere.
