Devialet launches a new portable smart speaker for $790

The French audio manufacturer Devialet, best known for its collection of striking audio equipment, is entering the market for portable smart speakers. It is launching the Devialet Mania today, a battery-powered speaker with the business’ recognisable sci-fi stylings in a small package that, according to the firm, has a 10-hour battery life at moderate volumes.

Features of Devialet smart speaker

Four years ago, Devialet decided to design a portable speaker. Devialet intended to create a hi-fi speaker that runs on batteries. Devialet claims that the Mania’s two subwoofers and four full-range drivers provide 360-degree sound. The speaker’s ability to modify its sound profile according to the size of your listening space obtained from its four microphones is even more intriguing. Devialet asserts that the speaker’s two back drivers will adapt their sound to support the front two drivers if you set it up next to a wall.

The company is integrating Amazon Alexa for the first time because the Devialet Mania smart speaker contains microphones. A tactile slider switch located close to the USB-C connector allows you to completely disable the feature.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are available on the Devialet Mania smart speaker, which utilises the company’s own app. It is compatible with Spotify Connect and AirPlay 2 via Wi-Fi. At a normal volume, the battery should last ten hours. The smart speaker has an IPX4 classification for dust and water resistance. A docking station or USB-C port for charging is separately available.

The speaker has an accelerometer and four microphones. The Devialet Mania recognises when it has been relocated. It is able to recognise whether it is close to a wall because of the built-in microphones. The Devialet Mania is available for purchase now for $790. Compared to other speakers offering similar features, this speaker is priced at a very hefty amount.
