Sony’s State of Play – What’s new for Play Station Fanatics

Every few months, Sony makes a new showcase appearance with a selection of games on PlayStation platforms. Sony opted to hold another State of Play on September 13. This was in advance of the Tokyo Game Show to promote games coming to the PS4, PS5, and PlayStation VR2. Sony’s State of Play broadcast from September 2022 was massive. Here is everything Sony revealed during its session, from Tekken 8 to God of War Ragnarok, along with all the trailers, in case you missed it. Even though it was shorter—20 minutes—and only featured 10 games, each one looked exciting in its own unique manner.

TEKKEN 8 launched for PS5

State of Play opened with a PlayStation 5 promo for Bandai Namco’s Tekken 8. Veteran Tekken players Kazuya Mishima and Jin Kazama knocked each other out in the pouring rain. Katsuhiro Harada detailed how this content, which plays at 50 frames per second, was pulled directly from the game’s story mode in a post on the PlayStation Blog. It is confirmed for PS5, but there is no release date.

God of WAR Ragnarok – A combo of Dual Sense Controller

Sony recently unveiled a new God of War Ragnarok trailer. It provided additional story insights as well as a closer look at the game’s combat. Santa Monica Studio included a few sneak peaks at brand-new exotic worlds that appear unearthly in the trailer. Additionally, Sony unveiled a DualSense controller with a Ragnarok theme if you enjoy branded accessories. On November 9, both the controller and the game will be available for purchase.

Like a Dragon- Ishin

Ishin is currently undergoing a complete makeover. Early in 2010, this game was launched on the PS3 and PS4. Unfortunately, it was never released in North America or Europe. This was because the Yakuza series was not yet well-known in the West. It has been recreated using Unreal Engine 4 and will be made available for PS4 and PS5 in February 2023 under the name Like a Dragon: Ishin!

Rise of the Ronin coming in 2024

Rise of the Ronin, a new video game from Sony and Koei Tecmo’s Team Ninja, is under development. According to a PlayStation blog post, the game is set in the late 19th century. You will control a ronin, who is “a warrior chained to no master and free to make choices of its own.” Ronin appeared to be a hybrid of Assassin’s Creed and Ghost of Tsushima. In the brief gameplay snippets we saw in the teaser, it strikes me as a big hit. The game will launch exclusively for the PS5 system in 2024.

All the extra details you need to know

The tabletop board game Demeo and Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxy’s Edge Enhanced Edition were two new PSVR2 titles that Sony showcased. Both will launch next year.

In a brief preview for the upcoming Harry Potter prequel game Hogwarts Legacy, Sony stated that PlayStation owners would have access to an exclusive mission called The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop. Furthermore, the task will only be available during that time. Following a recent postponement, Hogwarts Legacy will finally be available on February 10th, 2023.

PlayStation unveiled the first glimpse of some of the digital prizes for its new PlayStation Stars loyalty programme. There will be chances for all PlayStation Stars members to accumulate loyalty points. A variety of things can be exchanged in return for these points. These include PSN wallet money and particular PlayStation Store goods, from a catalogue. Additionally, PlayStation Plus subscribers who have signed up for PlayStation Stars immediately receive points. This will be for any purchases made through the PlayStation Store.
