Tesla recalls over 321,000 vehicles over tail light issues

Tesla is recalling over 321,000 vehicles due to a software flaw that causes certain vehicles’ tail lights to illuminate incorrectly. A filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that the recall affects specific Model 3 vehicles manufactured in 2023 and Model Y vehicles manufactured in 2020 to 2023.

The revelation comes after the firm recalled over 30,000 Model X vehicles on Friday in the US due to a problem that could cause the front passenger airbag to activate incorrectly, sending its shares down nearly 3% to a nearly two-year low.

A problem that may create false defect detections during the vehicle wake-up process, according to Tesla, may cause the rear lights on one or both sides of the car to “intermittently illuminate.”The NHTSA claims that this could raise the danger of a collision in low-light situations, although Tesla hasn’t heard of any injuries or incidents that could be attributed to this issue.

The manufacturer of electric vehicles has recalled 19 vehicles so far this year. A problem that might cause the front passenger airbag to activate improperly in “low-speed” crashes led Tesla to recall almost 30,000 Model X vehicles last week. If a young child were to be in the front seat at the time, this could have been dangerous and resulted in harm.

This month, Tesla recalled 53 vehicles owing to improper side view mirror installation and more than 40,000 Model X and Model S sedans due to a software issue that could compromise power steering when driving over bumps.
